I am an assistant instructor of literature and composition at the University of Texas at Austin, where I am completing my doctorate in English, specializing in the long 19th century. I am seeking a position that will allow me to teach literature classes, especially the literature of the nineteenth century, while supporting me in my continuing research and publication.

My dissertation examines how Queen Victoria helped strengthen early feminism by virtue of her prominent position, her character, and her often-overlooked patronage of certain proto-feminist movements.  I will defend my dissertation in February of 2005 and will graduate in May.
