What to Do After a Discussion

Often instructors let discussions run until the end of class and then never return to them, but you should always have a post-discussion wrap (either at the end of class or at the beginning of the next class). This will allow you to summarize the key points that were made and the conclusions that were reached and to explain in detail how the discussion has helped the entire class move toward course objectives. A good summary ensures that everyone takes away the most important points of the discussion, and it gives you another chance to convince students that they are learning during discussions.
