Volume 1, Number 1
<1> I acknowledge that this model of imaginative space is insufficient to the extent that it represents in two-dimensional space, thought processes which are essentially non-spatial. Allucquere Rosanne Stone says that "cyberspace" (my emphases) may be the wrong metaphor to use, and encourages people to think of a non-spatial metaphor (personal communication, Dec.16, 1994).
<2> But because happenings, and realistic and Brechtian production modes are themselves constructs grounded in spatial terms and because descriptions of virtual interaction are often vague, I find it helpful to ground the discussion of virtual performance by plotting a schema for the interaction of imaginative spaces. I am open to using other metaphors instead of space, however, with "environment" being one of them.
