Harrison's collection Flying Dutchmen includes a number of sonnets retelling traditional myths, fairytales, and Biblical stories from the points of view of the women involved -- Cinderella, Beauty (of Beauty and the Beast), Mary (the mother of Jesus), Eve, Penelope -- but the Leda sonnet is the only one that rewrites a specific text (Yeats's poem) as well as the traditional story. Because of this, I regret editor J. Paul Hunter's decision to replace "Leda's Version" with "Penelope."
