On September 14, Dr. Jerry Bump will deliver a lecture about his current project in Second Life - "a 3-D virtual world entirely built and owned by its residents." Recently, Dr. Bump obtained a grant for his project. The grant has allowed a research group to begin building a virtual UT campus in Second Life, and this group is looking for ways to use Second Life in the writing classroom. Dr. Bump's talk will compare the group that began the CWRL in 1986 with the group he is currently working with on the Second Life project. Joining Dr. Bump will be special guest Paul Taylor. Paul currently works for The Daedalus Group, a company started by the graduate student founders of the CWRL. The lecture will take place in FAC 9 at 6:00pm.
