Academics in Action Symposium

Academics in Action is an opportunity to share and develop scholarship with other graduate students and faculty members. This symposium recognizes the work graduate students do as at the forefront of their fields and values frank and informal discussion with colleagues as integral to this work. Academics in Action creates a space in which to share what we do in the library, the classroom, the community, and in front of our computers in order to gain fresh perspectives, contribute to others’ projects, and reinvigorate the scholarly process. Although the focus of this symposium will be within the broadly defined discipline of American literary studies, interdisciplinary projects are vital to the work we all do, and sessions will include scholars throughout the English Department and University.

The fifth annual Academics in Action: A Process Oriented Symposium, took place on October 21 and 22, 2010. The keynote panel featured a roundtable discussion with English department faculty members Jim Cox, Martin Kevorkian, and Jennifer Wilks, who talked about their experiences working on their second books.
