Please read this information carefully. Work that is not properly
prepared can't be accepted. All assigned work must be turned in by class time on the day it is due. If you are absent, you will need to make arrangements to turn in the work, perhaps via a friend or roommate. No late work will be accepted, without a valid, documented excuse. All work for this class is completed and turned in on the computer. Format for work turned in in this class: Put your name, the date, the class, and the assignment at the top of the page or on the first page of the document. For print documents, use a normal text font between 12 point and 14 point. Double space the text, and be sure to number the pages. Name the file with your last name and the date: "Williamson-1/17." Informal writing assignments are generally 1-2 page responses to specific questions or suggestions, to the reading, to project work, or to some aspect of class discussion or activity. Informal writing assignments may also include posting to a message forum or sending email to a discussion group. Drafts are early rough attempts to frame up your ideas, notes, and outside sources. They are not finished work. However, you will get more helpful suggestions from other students and from me if you have done a thoughtful job, and have a solid draft to present, than if the draft is too sketchy or incomplete. Finished work should represent your best work, in research, content, organization, and style. It should be free of spelling and other mechanical errors. Any sources should be properly accounted for in in-text citations and in your bibliography. It should be attractive for readers. We will work on improving all of these areas. How do I submit an Online Learning Record? Submit your Learning Record the same way you submit other assignments. Put all of the materials you are including into a folder titled "your last name-OLR" (Williamson-OLR, for example) and turn it in to the proper class folder inside my teacher folder. Where to turn in work: First, be sure your name, the date, the class, and the assignment is on the inside of the document, and the file is named with your last name and the date. Turn in all work to my teacher folder on the lab computers. You can find my teacher folder from the desktop by pressing command-F (for "find") and then typing "syverson" and pressing return or enter. Inside my teacher folder you will find numbered folders, one for each of my courses. Inside the folder with your course number, you will find an assignment folder. Transfer your assignment into the appropriate assignment folder. Be sure to keep a copy of all of the work you've turned in, in case of some problem with the computers. You may email me with questions about the work, but please do not email the work itself to me. Questions? Email Peg Syverson: syverson@uts.cc.utexas.edu |
