Role of Class Pictures in the Course
Class Pictures Required for Portfolio
*Includes presentation of all pictures and videos available of your self in the course.
Go to the class Facebook site and select "See All" for the Photos and Videos, or go to your Profile in Facebook and select "View Photos of Me" and "View Videos of Me." In either case choose the class pictures/videos of you. The course website will have larger photos if you prefer those and there you have the option of just linking to the photos rather than including them on the CD.
The visual presentation of the multimedia consists of places and captions for pictures but the pictures themselves can be called up by hyperlinks to the course website [not to webspace or any blog or livejournal or other internet site]. By using this method there is no need to include all those pictures on your CD or jump drive. However, the pictures themselves must pop up on their own, not as links which must then be selected by the reader (use the code <img src= "hyperlink">). In the case of videos, however, links which the reader must select are sufficient.
To make files of your blogger.com journal entries simply open the specific journal page in Firefox and then go to the File menu and choose "Save Page As" making sure the option below that is "Web Page, complete" (contributed by Ryan Edwards).
**Before you make the index file you should have all the files you want in your portfolio in a single folder. You create your index file inside that folder also. Then when you are done you simply transfer the contents of that folder to a CD.
To make an index file your first choice should be a website creation program such as Dreamweaver or Front Page or IWeb.
Without such a program you can either use Notepad or Textedit to modify someone else's index file such as the ones below. To do the latter just find a portfolio index page you like and then in, say, Firefox, go to "View" and select "Page Source." Then when the code appears, go to "Edit" and then "Select All" and then "Copy." Now go to Notepad or Textedit and "Paste" in the code. Then make the changes in the file names and item names to make it your own.
"To use Microsoft Word, open a new document titled "index" and
create your list of all the items in your portfolio (in the specified order)
and then select each item one by one and select "Insert" and
then "Hyperlink."
On the "Hyperlink" page do not use "browse"; type just the file name with no path!
(unless you are linking to one of the files on our website, of course)
Then do "Save as Web Page" titling the page "index.htm"
