The Wells Fargo bank building located in downtown Austin is a typically modern building. It shows the perfection of the workman in the precise placing and exact replication of the windows, the clean square angles and perfect symmetry. There is no savageness in this building, only monotonous repetition. The pillars are of one size and shape, repeated over and over. There is no ornamentation and certainly no love of nature, as the building is surrounded by edifices just like it and is in the middle of an industrial center. As there is no real ornamentation, there is no possibility for obstinacy. The form is very accurate and texture refined; therefore there is no "vigour of effect." The building is jutting simply because it is a skyscraper and protrudes toward the sky. The redundance is evident not in the ornamentation, but rather in the basic facade of the building.
