A Never-Ending Web

Taking this class has opened my eyes to the important impact that nature has on my life. I use the metaphor of the spider web to exemplify how all of my experiences have built on one another and are all interconnected. Without out one experience, my general definition of a season would be less colorful. Without any of these experiences, I would not have as great an understanding of my place in nature, nor would my concept of each season be as developed. I define winter, summer, spring and fall by the sights, sounds, smells and sensations that I have felt living in each season. Where a New York spring conjures up thoughts of mud and flooding, an Austin spring means bountiful wildflowers growing along the highway and honeysuckle scented air. To quote the Indigo Girls:

"There's no place like home
And none more pleasing
Than the South-land in the springtime."

I am determined to make more memories, thus creating deeper definitions of the seasons and my relationship with the natural world.
