Wet, Wild Fun

Brooke Running in Ocean--Four Years Old Water has been an integral part of my life for as long as I can remember. I have been a mermaid, a dolphin, a water acrobat and most of all a synchronized swimmer--nothing professional, just routines designed with friends. It is amazing to move your body through a substance that keeps you light and buoyant, and allows every move you make to be graceful. I would stay in the water for hours, until I was wrinkled from head to toe. There is something about being in another land, and feeling like you are the most elegant creature on that land, that makes me still admire and respect the water. It is also a powerful force.

Brooke and Jared at Silver Lake in Maine I know that I have always enjoyed the water, but have many times tried to conquer it. Swimming on a swim team for 7 years, sailing boats on the water, and teaching swimming lessons taught me that I feel the need to triumph over water, thus making me more a part of it. I have come to realize that this is one of the strongest forces in nature, and that at no time will human beings ever be truly a part of water--it does not need us.
