I found this painting in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. (Well, on their website!) Winslow Homer's paintings have always appealed to me in their simple renderings of life in contact with nature. My favorites are generally those with marine themes, but I like this one too. It seems to transport the viewer right into the warm sun of the field. You can almost smell the tall, dry grass and feel the texture as you lose yourself in its vastness.
