Monet has always been one of my favorites of the
Impressionist artists. He has a way of depicting nature
that soothes the eyes and the mind. Sometimes a version
of nature, a translation of it if you will, can take the
beauty of nature and torque it into an all new sort of
beauty. While Monet's art has nature as its subject,
it is not a photocopy image of what the artist is seeing.
So, we as viewers of Monet's paintings get a window into
the mind of Monet and see how he translates the image in
front of him in his mind and perceptions.
For me, the mind of Monet and the nature it sees and feels
is an amazingly relaxing and soothing place where I can
escape the hustle and bustle around me. Monet's paintings
are somewhere I can turn off the buzz in my head.
Places like that seem to be more and more infrequent
these days in the real world. So, we are left with art
to escape to when we cannot find the real thing. So, we
are left to find the translation we love the most and
visit there as often as possible.
Of course the options are almost limitless with Monet.
If you would like to frequent some of the places where
you can find more Monet pieces and information on the
artist himself, these were my two favorites:
