The Flora of Georgia O'Keefe
The work of Georgia O'Keefe, like that of Monet, is a
translation of nature. We get a glimpse of the mind
and emotions of the artist by viewing the way she chooses
to represent the world around her in her paintings. I
particularly love the floral paintings of O'Keefe. Many
of the same flowers that you find in her paintings reside
on my patio in various baskets, buckets, and boxes. I
love flowers: that's about all there is to it.
Flowers are probably my favorite aspect of nature. Georgia O'Keefe's
work allows me to enjoy my passion of flowers in yet another way:
by viewing them through another person's eyes. O'Keefe's paintings
and my deck of flowers allow me to successfully shut out the "real
world" of stress and deadlines--something I think we could all use
now and again.
