Our day begins and ends with Unity. The beginning of a new day is neither classified as day or night, but as the dawn, a mix of the two. As night draws near, half of the cars on the highway have their headlights on while the other half does not. This ambiguity of lighting occurs as the day ends at dusk.
When night falls, in everyplace covered by darkness, colors fade and vision becomes limited. Whether you are busy or sleeping, the night unites all that it covers. Whether the night is pitch black or dimly lit by the moon, most living creatures have limited vision in the dark.
During the
day we can find unity in many places in many common everyday things. I
found that even in one apartment complex there are many examples of man's
unity with nature.
Even a nasty cigarette
butt filled ashtray can produce beauty. As the ashtray smolders the
wind picks up the smoke and flows through the it showing what wind looks
like.
In the spring time, nature
makes its presence known by covering all of Austin with a thin layer of
green pollen.

A
wall made of rocks turned green with algae from late night watering and
recent rains make it look a lot like Waller Creek.
Weeds growing high in
rain gutters.
Hedges are trimmed to
look nice. They are a good representation of the balance of man and nature.
Even in a covered parking
spot, a bird can find a home.

Domesticated
animals like this cat are good examples of the unity of man and nature.
House cats are pets, but they once they get outside they become predators.
House plants are like
having part of nature inside the home.
So how can this be seen
as unity?
