dying to dream

I sometimes suffer from a condition called obstructive sleep apnea.

Whether caused physiologically by malfunctioning nerves and muscles, anatomically by restricted breathing passages, or psychosomatically by stress; I'm not sure. What I do know is that sometimes deep into sleep my breathing halts. I am forced to engage anew, with great exertion, this mysterious respiratory apparatus in my body.

This web site is a semi-autobiographical exploration of the perils of sleep.

slumbering... dreaming... gasping... awake...
