  • (Eleanor) everyone can have nostalgia, even for something that never existed.  why do we need to glorify the past?
    • Jude- never went to college but nostalgic for Christminster
    • (Anush) “That which does not advance must retrograde”, concentrating too much on our relative success in the past prevents us from advancing in the way we should
    • (Genevra) nostalgia sets a precedent for the future that can sometimes be helpful
    • (Puja) going back to India- it’s not that bad to remember things because of the effect they have on you
    • (Laura) bass concert hall—sometimes its fun to just wallow in self pity
    • (Willy) look to the past when we have trouble in the present so its kind of a counterproductive thing that lends itself to this downward spiral of “this sucks and it’s not going to get any better”
