Mauro-
Your buildings are so intricate!! I love the detail you put into them.
The pointed arch on the Gothic building defines it clearly. The bizarre
design of the modern building's roof makes it stand out, and the
Spanish building is unique from the others also from its roof. The only
element of your project that seems a little unpolished is the textures
of your buildings. They don't seem to compliment each other and so the
different styles of buildings seem a little random in such close
proximity. Overall, though, your attention to detail makes your project
succesful.
In terms of the rubric, the visual meaning is clear
immediately, the sequence of buildings follows your paper well and the
composition of your buildings is great.
Good job!!
Trevor
- I really love the visual impact of your structure, though I'm
not entirely sure that I understand how it serves as a building. The
design is so interesting and the contrast of textures and translucent
objects makes the buildings quite unique. In terms of the rubric, the
composition of your buildings is creative and the visual meaning is
clearly modernist. I don't immediately recognize any icons or symbols,
but I don't know if they are necessary for this aspect of the project.
I
think it is interesting that you can walk up your buildings. Are they
supposed to be that way? Either way, I had fun walking up them and
sliding down.
Great design and good start!
Law- The way that
you just modified campus to make it modernist shows the great impact of
simplicity. That makes modernism really appealing to me. The visual
meaning of your campus is really apparent immediately. The only thing I
don't like is the random triangle pyramid things in the back of the
building. Did I miss something in your paper? What are they?
Your
thincbook also works well. I like how you have instructions about how
to find it because I'm always worried I'll miss someone's.
Great visual impact!
Liz
- I really do like your windows! That is impressive. Your
buildings are very distinctive and very building-like (meaning they
look very much like buildings that could exist) The size of your
thincbook makes it much easier to read than the normal, original size.
I love how you can immediately tell that your buildings are modernist
and that you created each part rather than putting pictures on shapes.
The bright red of your ramp seems a little out of place with the more
subdued colors of the rest of the buildings, but that is a minor
detail. Overall it is evident you spent a lot of time making these
buildings and it paid off. In terms of the rubric, the visual meaning
is clear and the composition of your buildings is interesting and
creative. I didn't really see any icons or symbols, but I don't know if
that is important here. Good job!
Mary - The first thing I
saw on your project was the blown up pictures of the windows from the
Harry Ransom Center and they look so good bigger. Your whole project
shows really great inshigt and design. I really also like your
landscaping and flowers. How did you do them? The variety of textures
and colors make your campus so interesting. I'm also really impressed
that you used captions on your collages. Collages in general were a
really good idea to decorate your walls. Like everyone else, I love
your mini model of campus in the back room. Great overall design. The
visual meaning is clear and the composition of your project is really
interesting and gives you a lot to look at.
Great job!
Emily
- I love the immediate visual impact of your project! It looks so
much like some of the pictures from your paper. I actually like how you
have just one color right now because it allowed me to see the
interesting shape of your project. The black and white tower also
really compliments the buildings. It seems like you have a really great
start; adding a little more detail will give visitors to your campus
more to explore
The fountain or sculpture is also really artsy. I really like it.
Eric
-Your building looks really great and polished already! I love your
patio/ covered walkway in front. Also, your thincbook is working well,
so good job for that. Your project definitely immediately conveys its
meaning and the composition shows Spanish style quite clearly. The
pictures you used work quite well, but I've always had an aversion to
repeated patterns so that bothered me a little personally, but overall
your building is simple and to the point and conveys your chosen
architectural style perfectly well.
Great building!
Chetna
- Chetna, your project looks so good! I'm so jealous of your
fountain that is tiered! (or is it teired?) All of your details are
great (like the rug and the fountain and benches). I have to admit I'm
a little confused by the giant obelisk/tower thing, but it does look
cool. The arched walkway is also a great touch. Since it is still a
work in progress, it seems a little disunified, but I'm sure I'll
understand it once you are done. In terms of the rubric, the visual
meaning is clear when you first see the project, but I personally am
not familiar enough with vedic architecture to understand the meanings,
if that makes sense. You also incorporated images and icons well. Great
start and good luck with the rest!
Amanda - I really like
your idea: It is more managable and easier to see given the retrictions
and kinda narrow range of site in SecondLife. However, I couldn't open
the notes. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but the notes simply
don't open and the photos show up as little blank checkered boxes. Your
star is especially impressive, though I do like all the elements of
your project, I just wish I could see the notes and actually take the
tour. I think that you would score very high according to the rubric
because the visual meaning is clear AND you have icons or symbols.
Good work!
Ashley-
I love your parrot!!! Your project really does look like Frank Llyod
Wright's work, especially Falling Waters. The design is great. I love
your flowers and the water fal. The tower looks a little out of place
to me because it seems so out of touch with nature when compared with
the resot of your project. In terms of the rubric, your visual meaning
is apparent immediately and the overall campus has many elements which
are interesting to look at and explore.
I love your ideas!
Garrison
- I like how the interior of your building is decorated with relevant
photos: It makes the pictures easy to see and emphasizes your design.
The fact that the pictures on your walls don't quite match up is a
little distracting from your design, but your building looks good. I
also like your columns. Do they have marble textures?
I think if you added another room or two it would give your project more areas to explore.
I also like the bushes in front of your building.
What is the platform near your roof for?
Great project so far!
Brad-
Your project is so creative. It isn't like any of the others at all and
it really utilizes the strengths of Second Life. (Like making stuff
float) In terms of the Visual Rhetoric scale your project is at the top
of the scale except that the meaning isn't clear when first looking at
the product. But I love that about it! It makes you get more into the
project. Plus, it lets you incorporate icons and symbols really well.
The couch is awesome! O, and your emphasis on art really seems so
perfect for UT and will bring out the already artsy-ness of campus
officially. I wish we had more art here now.
Great, creative project!
Pallavi
- Even though you are still working on your building, I think
that it looks good right now. The pictures you used seem to really fit
the walls you made so it doesn't look distorted. Also, this may seem
strange, but I really like your roof. It looks realistic. In terms of
the rubric, your visual meaning is definitely immediately clear and I'm
sure once you add some more to your project, it will be creative too.
Great start!
