- Creativity- ability to use one’s
imagination to develop new and original things; must be original and of
value in a society
- You can put old knowledge together in
different ways
- There’s a difference between thinking
creatively and thinking independently without outside forces. Maybe we can think of things no one has
thought of before, but do we think of those things ourselves or do outside
influences play a part?
- Conscious mind- Is it possible to think
of something without it?
- Do all creative things have to come
from matter?
- Page
190- we’re fundamentally limited by the language that we
speak. Its impossible to think of
some completely different than anything that has ever been created that
other people will actually understand. It pushes you expand your
creativity to get your ideas through in a new way.
- Does language affect how we feel? The Eskimos have 50 words for “snow”- we
have one. If you learn another
language or create your own, you break out of the system.
- People who can’t speak can still be
creative. (ex: the child)
- Every experience that we have shapes
our world view.
- If we didn’t have language to begin
with, you can’t even begin to shape who you are.
- Other kinds of language? Visual?
