LR Goals
The goals that I have set for myself this semester
are almost entirely different than those I set last semester.
This semester I am aiming for goals that apply to me equally
inside the classroom and out of it.
-
Time-management – I was a huge procrastinator
all through high school and was never really faced with
time management issues until I joined my theatre troupe,
the Broccoli Project. Since I have already been cast for
a show that is going on stage in April, balancing my classes
with other commitments is going to be as important this
semester as it was last year. I also want to be able to
participate in the optional journals more.
-
Creativity – This is one of the goals
that has transferred over. I still want desperately to do
something that is truly original; something I can really
be proud of. I want to show myself the heights I can achieve
if I set my mind to it.
-
Learning through every means and every source
possible – College has provided me with opportunities
that I could not even dream of while growing up in Saudi
Arabia. I wish to take full advantage of these opportunities
and learn how to be a better reader, writer, actor and friend.
-
Becoming more perceptive – I think
that in order to be able to write effectively, I need to
have a basic understanding of humanity and its motivation.
Instead of living in my own world, like I usually do, I
want to be more in tune with the thoughts and emotions of
others so that I can respond to them in a more complete
manner.
-
Becoming a better listener – In addition
to going hand-in-hand with the previous goal, this objective
applies to class as well. I want to be able to enjoy every
conversation and debate thoroughly, which means I need to
improve my listening skills.
-
Become a leader/more active – I need
to step up and speak my mind not only in class, but in other
aspects as well. I often do not speak my mind out of fear
of being reproached. My freshman status also prevents me
from taking charge around my seniors. I want to lead as
best as I can, and also take a more active role in my classes.
I hope to be able to lead two discussions this semester
as well.
-
Be healthier all around – This goal
is pretty self-explanatory. Besides physical health, I need
to look out for my emotional and mental health as well.
In the past I have let other people affect my emotions too
much, so I need to work on that. I also want to battle my
terrible laziness and do the things that I know I should.
