"Only connect! . . .Live in fragments no longer.Ó  E. M. Forster, Howards End (1910), ch. 22

"We go for a walk in nature, we see a beautiful sunset Ñ we breathe the order in through our senses, we feel connected. The inside begins to mirror the magnificent outside. In the Vedic tradition that connectedness is called 'yoga.'Ó

ÔOne day when I was twenty-three or twenty-four this sentence seemed to form in my head, without my willing it, much as sentences form when we are half-asleep, ÔHammer* your thoughts into unityÕ. For days I could think of nothing else and for years I tested all I did by that sentence [...]Ó* William Butler Yeats, Winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature (*cited in Frank Tuohy, Yeats, 1976, p.51 )

Saving Your Self

     A. Saving your Avatar in your Inventory

B. Changing your Clothes

C. Restoring the Old You

A. Saving your Avatar in your Inventory: Working with ÒOutfitsÓ

By now you are familiar with what an avatar is. We are now going to have you change the appearance of your avatar. Before we do that, we want you to save your current avatar.

We will practice saving our current avatar, changing our avatar, then restoring our previous avatar.

1. Right Click (open Apple+click) on your Avatar.

2. Select Appearance from the pie-menu. This will open the Appearance menu and turn your avatar around

3. Click ÒMake OutfitÓ at the bottom of the Appearance menu. Making an Outfit makes a new folder in your Inventory and saves copies of the items you are now wearing into it.

4. Type in a Folder Name: use todayÕs date or name your outfit

5. Check the boxes of items to include: Shape, Skin, Hair, Eyes, etc.

6. Click Save. Check your Inventory under the Clothes folder to see if your new outfit folder is there.

Note: If your Clothes Inventory is messy, you can clean it up by dragging unwanted items to the Trash bin which is at the bottom of the Inventory menu.

B. Making a New Outfit

You can get a new outfit by opening your Inventory and scrolling down past the Trash can to Library. Here you can open to the Clothes folder and try on different items, outfits, and objects.

You can also make your own outfit by going to the Appearance menu and clicking on Clothes items on the far left menu. You should have the option to Create a New ____.

To remove clothes or objects

In the Appearance menu there is a ÔTake OffÓ option that allows you to remove clothing you just put on.

Sometimes you might have to remove clothes or objects from the pie menu when you right-click on your Avatar. Right-click on your avatar and click ÒTake OffÕ. You can either remove articles of Clothing or ÒDetachÓ objects from your body.

C. Restoring your previous clothes

To switch to your old Outfit simply go to your Inventory and drag the folder you made earlier (Step A) to your Avatar.

Note: This will only change the clothes on the Avatar. If you have changed the AvatarÕs body or face, those changes will not go back.
