My Meyers-Briggs results seemed to be an almost random grouping of descriptions. The area I was strongest in was ÒJudging;Ó I am the kind of person who likes to have a plan in all areas, from schoolwork to my schedule for the weekend. I was mildly surprised that I tested to be an extrovert. While I am a social person, I do enjoy time by myself and know when I need to be alone (especially when I have a lot of work to do or something important to accomplish). At the same time, I am comfortable comparing my thoughts with others and brainstorming as a class.  However, generally I prefer individual assignments rather than group assignments because I know myself well enough to get the job done. As a ÒjudgingÓ person, I am conscious of time restraints and I feel group activities add pressure and confusion, making it harder to accomplish the task at hand.

As a writer, I plan out my essays with outlines and try to coherently organize my thoughts. I feel my writing style has been directly affected by my high school teachers, especially my Junior English teacher. He emphasized using personal experience to make writing more interesting, to always be original and avoid clichŽs. For this reason, I identify with the ÒfeelingÓ description from my test results. I like relating to human examples and forming relationships with my classmates and teachers. I think it is important that my professors know who I am and recognize simple things like my handwriting or where I sit everyday. I work hard to make my writing flow, but at the same time include all of the necessary information as a ÒsensingÓ person. This ÒsensingÓ area does seem to contradict the ÒfeelingÓ area, because while I do enjoy making things personal, I also am organized, practical, and try to state my opinions as simply as possible. My ÒsensingÓ side also describes my need for concrete facts, explanations, and instructions.

Though many of these descriptions seem to contradict each other, I think pieces of each describe my character as a person and as a student. I know myself well, but I still enjoy spending time with others. I am organized and productive, but also creative and sensing I am an Extroverted, Sensing, Feeling, Judging person.
