the garden

My favorite part about the walk around Tanaguchi's garden is the waterfall. It is so beautiful and serene which is why I chose to sit next to it while writing this. I enjoyed the walk around the garden and liked how it tended to wrap around. As we walked around it, I noticed that water flowed next to the paths. No matter where we were, there was always water. For me, I saw it as a tool to cleanse the mind. My thoughts flowed away with the water. I found that to be very relaxing. Something else that I enjoyed were the smells that permeated throughout the air. The smells reminded me of Hawaii, and I was instantly taken there in my mind. I noticied that this garden allowed for all my senses to be used. In this way, the garden created unity within my body. I felt at peace with myself and my surroundings. When here, I honestly feel as though I am no longer in Austin. The only thing that keeps me grounded are the soccer games I hear being played in the background.

If I had a garden, I would want it to embody my idea of spirituality. I would want many flowers of all colors to be represented; a creek that flows through; and a waterfall because they sound so pleasant. These are all things, that when they are around me, I connect with spirituality and God. Most of all, I would want people to feel God through the garden, and be closer with Him then what they might have been.I would want people to leave having a deeper connection then they did to begin with. In other words, I would hope that my garden would produce a sense of unity in the visitor not only with themselves, but also with nature.
