Think of this perhaps as a "book" of stones, plants, and water that you are trying to "read" with all your senses, including your sense of touch, even in your feet. You will be reading with your feet, your whole body, as you walk through, as well as with your eyes. ------------------------------------ possible topics for your journal----------------------------- Were you able to concentrate well enough to "read" this "book"? What did this garden communicate to you? Did it communicate any of themes of Taniguchi's words in "The Spirit of the Garden"? What parts spoke to you? How did the symbolism of walking over the bamboo bridge affect you, if at all? How did the symbolism of purifying your mind with water affect you, if at all? How did reading The Story of the Mother Tree and then seeing the tree affect you, if at all?
