I think a very interesting quote of Darwins is when he says that "individuals having an advantage, however slight, over others, would tend to have the greatest chance of surviving." That is like in England during the height of the industrial revolution when soot from factories covered some ash trees. Before the revolution, a white form of moth thrived because it blended better with the bark. But then when the soot began to cover everything, the black form of the same moth began to thrive because it was now better camoflauged. I think the most striking quote from Birds and Beasts comes when Henry Beston says that "We patronize them for thier incompleteness." Them being animals. I think it is so sad , but so true.
