Sometimes you get to thinking about your life, about how your live fits into the grand scheme of things. Sometimes this makes you feel good, and othertimes it does not. I only hope that I can accomplish as much as Dobie did. What a life. AFter reading what he wrote about the mustangs, it is obvious that he has a deep love for the stallions of this worLD. When I say stallions, I am not reffering to the literal interpretation. I am hinting at all the things in this world that are wild and free. All the Ghost Horses' of this world. The longhorns that "in [his] mind's eye a herd of longhorn steers, heads up and strund out, striding from the south on their way up the long, long trail..."(273). His house is the memory of those loves and fascinations. It is the relic of his livelyhood. It says almost as much about the man as does his writings. EVery thing that I know of that DObie did, he did in respect to the wild and free. "No one who conceives him as only aa potential servant to man can apprehend the mustang". THese words written in Wild and Free express the admiration that he must feel for mustangs. I hope to be able to appreciate animals with as high esteem as he does. SOmeday I will, but now, I am still learning. I am trying to find myself in this sea of life where I seem to be some parasite...leaching the world as many of us do. But I want to give back. I want to be free, and at one with what should be my priority.Return to Discussion Forum Index
