After looking at all the statues, I decided that the longhorn was my favorite. I like this statue because of its strength and size. The longhorn is a very stubborn animal, refusing to give up on anything. Looking at this statue makes me proud of where I come from and and the school I go to. Longhorns do symbolize strength and on no terms will they allow themselves to be overcome. Just as we read in Dobie, as he told the story of Tablecloth, the story reads,"Tablecloth never swerved an inch. He hit the bear, bowled him over, and tore on." I believe this is why our school mascot is what it is. The longhorn will not stop at anything. He will not conform to what man wants, but man will do as the longhorn allows. "The Longhorns of the brush, instead of being modified by men, bent men to their own ways." The longhorn is a symbol to me, for when times get rough, I need to remain strong and not allow those struggles to overcome me.Return to Discussion Forum Index
