I really liked this essay. You explained basic physics and biology clearly without "dumbing-it-down." Your conclusion was great too. I think science and technology are worthless without dreams and ideas of the wonderful things they can accomplish.
My favorite thermodynamic principle is the 2nd. Every time we impose control or structure on nature, it won't last forever. Nature will.
