The cool feel of the air as it soaks into my skin only adds to my becoming ne with nature. I can almost feel my skin absorb the texture from the moist air, and the tree seems to have the same happening to it. It looks refreshed; with 1/3 of it relaxing in the warmth of the sun, and the rest cooling off in the shade. The slight breeze blowing through the leaves makes the tree appear excited; as if it were full of life and waiting for something to happen. While the tree is shaking it still has a dominant factor to overtake this excitement, and this is the trunk. The large and thick trunk keeps the tree cemented to the ground. The trunk provides the tree with a confidence, or a strength that shows just how great of a part of nature this massive tree is. I know compared to other tress in the world this may not be considered a massive tree, but in relation to the surrounding elements around this tree it is. The overall look of the tree puts off an inviting influence to the world. People go to it to relax in the shadows of it's arms, birds make their homes in it, and squirrels use it as if it were a playground. As the tree rises it grows shape, width, and openness. It's size is displayed as it reaches towards the sky. From the angle I am sitting at the tree seems to tower over the HRC, but form other angles this is false. This tree with it's great size and strength can provide protection to whoever or whatever wants it. The branches can stop the rain and protect you from a hot sun, and the trunk can block a cold wind blowing towards you. All of these elements give the tree an inviting presence. Some of the branches of the tree have a silky smooth appeal to them. The bark has either weather caused or just naturally fallen offof these branches giving them a milky white look under the usually rough brown surface. The more I look I realize that the higher the tree goes the less bark it has. Only 1/4 of the leaves on this tree are green with life. The others because of either father time or mother season have turned crisp and brown with a hard dry surface. The sun adds a new element to the tree. Tip-toeing over Dobie the sun peeks out at the tree only lighting up the rays can find. The small portion of the tree which the rays actually reach semms vibrant and alive; ready to continue the day. But, the rest of the tree not able to get the shine from the sun seems tired and ready to rest up for another day. The Sycamore has branches of different sizes and lengths extending in every direction. But, the relation between all of them can be recognized. Some are strong, thick, straigth, and others are thin, nimble, and zig-zagged.
