Waller Creek Adventure

Waller Creek Adventure Eleven steps with the last one broken off half way...they look so ancient to me, reminding me of those pictures you see of ancient Rome or Greece where the steps or columns are worn off from all thousands of years that they have been standing here. That is how old those steps appear to me. My first year here at the university, I had this one art class all the way past the creek. I remember walking right past the creek all the time, yet I never even considered to stop by and look. Now, that I am sitting here on a stonewall in the middle of the Waller Creek, I know what I’ve been missing out on all those times that I never stopped to take a look. I can hear the water running behind in a waterfall manner almost. For a split second, I almost forgot that I am surrounded by tons of buildings, 50,000 students and most of all 20th civilization. As I sit here and observe the steps along the cliff, I can’t help and notice the Alumni Center and the top of the stadium lurking through the trees. Surrounding the steps are two trees, each on the one side of the steps. Their roots are breaking through the ground soil coming up onto the surface of the cliff. Leaves obviously collecting themselves on top of the steps where they overflow from the muddy cliffs. These steps once led us to the top of the cliff from the creek where as now it’s obvious they have been replaced and are used to simply remind us what use to be.
