It is so hard to get over the distractions that come with almost all aspects of nature. We, as a society, are so into building more and being more metropolitan that it is hard to see the beauty in nature because it is surrounded by things so unnatural. Your reference to The Giving Tree is so great because as a fan of Shel I see the connection to the tree and the Creek.
