Living life as a horn is the best it could be. My worries and problems are minor and easily solved. And the unity that surrounds me, down here, by my Waller Creek home, is amazing. Unity is togetherness which is in turn cooperation between the land and the creatures that inhabit her. I know this and understand this very well. My fellow man, unfortunatley, has no clue. My fellow man believe that he is "endowed with outstanding rank in society" (349). My fellow man is dead wrong. He no more knows what unity means than two birds fighting over a fish.
Well, out here in the nature, in my home, unity keeps everything alive. Without it, every single creature would eventually die and be lost forever. Plants would trun brown and not supply food or oxygen. Us animals would die from starvation. Unity is onne of the most powerful things in nature. God intended it to be that way. So, why is it so hard for humnas to realize this?
Each morning I wake up to my unified world and I appreciate it more everytime. Everything works in a cycle here. The water supplies water for plants which give air and food which are used by animals. After we die, we fertilize soil and put nutrients back into the water. Without any one thing, our cycle is not complete and we all eventually die. Now that is SERIOUS unity between animals. "Each individual organism is bound in a complex chain of life, where each is dependent upon the other" (351). These stupid humans neve realize how strong our bond's are to one another, in the wild.
My wonderful home, Waller Creek, is indeed unified in ways that humans never even take the time to notice. The wonderful way that the banks and rocks have formed are caused by the flow of the water, which in turn is caused by the growth of various trees and plants that are homes to animals. Without any one of these few things, my home would be unified and definately would not resemble a home at all. God wanted it to be this way, where everything relies on something else. He never wanted any one creature to do something alone.
As I bask in the shade of my mesquite tree I take a deep breath and inhale all that surround's me. How wonderful it is that all that nature aroudn me is home. It is my home and I love it just the way it is, totally unified. To beleive that my world could go on without the water or rocks or trees or animals, is just a thought that is incomprehensive to me. If i had to wake up without the sound of the rushing current or over-head birds, my home would no longer be home. Creatures of all kinds pass by my home day and night, yet they don't notice the unity of my home. Why don't they see? What is wrong with their mentality that they don't see a totally unified world as I do? Then again, maybe I am wrong- What do I know-right? I'm just a big ole orange and white longhorn, standing under a mesquite tree, with all the rocks of Waller creek. I just keep on playin hide and seek with the hot August sun. Smilein' and cheerin' cause my work is finally done.
