The only thing that I think joins all of nature together is life. The water gives life to the trees and the trees give life to us. We live in this perfect little system which could not exist if one of its elements were missing. I look at the green grass and leaves; the creek which flows with ease; and I hear the birds and ripples of the water. Seperate, each one of these elements are beautiful, but together they are peaceful. This system has perfected its work over the many millions of years, and it can be seen as well as felt. Springs produce creeks which flow into rivers that filter into oceans. That is what unity means to me in nature. We are all connected. You have to stop and look at the big picture every now and again. "By looking only at the opposite poles of these or other dichotomies we tend to ignore everything between them"-Bump.Return to Discussion Forum IndexThis makes me wonder about what the earth would be like without trees, or grass or flowers. What would the mornings sound like without birds singing or the nights without crickets chirping? I think each one of us takes for granted the scenery with which we are a part. We are all just one small minute piece of a bigger picture. Yet, for most of us, life revolves around our lives and our thoughts. It's interesting how we never see ourselves as a supporting role. We are always the main character in the story we live. This egocentric way of thinking takes away from unity. It is the reason why our land looks as it does. It has been dominated by man. There is no true harmony in it anymore. "Something is always eating at the American heart like acid: it is the knowledge of what we have done to our continent".
