Sitting quietly, I begin to imagine myself as part of the nature. I am wondering why am I here. In front of me, there is a huge cypress tree with hundred of branches coming out from the trunk. On the branches, I see that the tiny little green leaves buds out beautifully. The tree creates a very beautiful scenery. A lot of young sparrows are singing on the branches. I t seems like they are wondering what fun things they will do next. Everything is so green to me. Spring comes finally, which means a new beginning for everything. The past is over and everything has a fresh start. Nature can be fascinating, and complicating. In nature, all the living organisms are free to do whatever they want. The bird can sing loudly without any interference. The water can flow smoothly to any direction they prefer. The fish can swim elegantly without a troubling thought. However, nature can be unpleasant. Although the animal that I am seeing seems to have a pleasant mood, we don’t really know what do they feel. I have the some opinion that the author write in p354 "The illusion that organism move entirely on their own is immensely persuasive until we settle down, as scientist do, to describe their behavior carefully." I guess the best way to understand them is to use sympathetic imagination which is to put ourselves into the animal’ perception. As the birds grow older, they have to find their own food, and constantly worrying about other hunters. The other organisms have their trouble too, the trees have to constantly absorb nutrients from underground and provide food for the branches and leaves. Without leaves, the tree cannot do photosynthesis. However, no matter what living things how thriving they grow, at the end everything will die and leave the world. To further go beyond our imaginable limit, we have to explore our unconscious and think something that we never think before. I like the quote in the course package, it says "Class structured civilized society is a kind of mass ego. To transcend the ego is to go beyond society as well. "Beyond" there lies, inwardly the unconscious. Outwardly, the equivalent of unconscious is the wilderness: both of these terms meet, one step even farther on, as one." In this quote, it implies us that we have to be imaginative and think something that nobody think before. I guess after the living thing dies, the only thing remains is their spirit, they will have a chance to reborn and receive a new body. The past and misdeeds are completely erased and everything will be forgive or forget. All organisms will be revived with a new form. It is like a cycle. It is like the law of universe. Everything is reborn and degrade in a circle continuously. Nothing can escape the law. I guess this is the reason that motivate us and cause our lives more interesting and livelier. If there is no death, everything will remain the same, nothing will change and everything will do the same thing. Life will become mundane.Return to Discussion Forum Index
