Writing Project #3:
Community Writing Project and Context Documents

If you are experiencing violence or threatening behavior from a partner, spouse, ex-partner or ex-spouse (whether that person lives with you or not), there are steps you can take to plan for your safety, and for the safety of your children. This is called safety planning, and we can help you do it. Keeping safe does not always mean leaving your home. In fact, leaving your home without good planning can be a very dangerous thing to do. Here are some important things to remember in keeping safe: ... (Safe Place)

You've been working hard all semester with your community organization in preparation for creating a document your organization needs; your project might be an informative brochure like this one on SafePlace's website. Whatever your project is, you've spent time getting to know your organization, and you will fulfill your commitment using your skills and observations.

In addition to handing in a copy of your community writing, you will turn in a rewritten catalog entry for your organization (see Writing Project #1) and a short context paper.

Requirements:
•  Complete your community writing project as arranged with your agency mentor
•  Rewrite your entry for your community organization in your catalog of feminist spaces
•  Compose a one-to-two page context paper that explains your role in the community writing project and your analysis of the writing project based on our work in this class
(Use quotes from your journal to document specific moments or personal responses)
•  Be creative with your writing style for the context paper and catalog entry
•  Give your context paper a creative and appropriate title
•  Use appropriate documentation and punctuation
•  Revise your writing project with attention to peer comments
