Minutes of the Business Meeting of
The South-Central Renaissance Conference
8 March 2008
- Maurice Hunt called the annual meeting to order and offered the 2007 minutes for approval. They were approved.
- On behalf of SCRC, Maurice Hunt thanked David Hart for his many years of service as SCRC Archivist. Maurice presented Jack Blevins as David’s replacement and noted that the archives will move to McNeese Library but will remain the property of SCRC.
- Treasurer’s Report: in the absence of the treasurer, Maurice assured the membership that the group is thoroughly solvent.
- Jill Carrington reported on the number of papers presented. See the attached report.
- Maurice Hunt reported that the Board has given Frances Malpezzi authority to put EIRC on-line with ProQuest/Gale. Any money earned will be added to the SCR subvention to EIRC.
- Dave Reinheimer reported that he is pleased with the growth of Discoveries an asked for all to keep in mind that he wishes to build a wide reputation for us through publication of short articles and/or notes.
- The slate of officers was accepted as presented as was the motion to offer Cliff Ronan Life Membership.
- The motion to give Arlen Nydam $150 for the development of the website was presented, seconded, and passed.
- Maurice Hunt announced that in terms of outreach, each member will receive a mailing requesting an indication of preference for future contact, i.e. email or US mail.
- Maurice Hunt reported that the board has approved the creation of a $40 day pass for those not on the program but wishing to attend on a particular day but not for the whole conference. He recommended that the membership approve this new policy. The motion was made, seconded, and approved.
- The meeting was adjourned in good time for the first morning session.
