This course is intended to introduce new technologies for composition and communication and to examine their impact on media and culture. It will also provide an opportunity for students to develop their own writing, reading, and critical thinking abilities through both informal and formal writing activities in a wide range of media.
The course is composed of four main strands:
Information and technology, where we will explore recently developed technologies for research, composing and communication
Rhetoric, where we will explore the uses of rhetoric in constructing place, activity, persona, and audience
Research, where we will use a wide variety of conventional and online search strategies to gather information about a topic
Collaboration, where we will gain experience working with others to achieve a common goal
All four strands will be woven throughout our work together, and we will look for evidence of
development in these strands across five dimensions of learning.
