There are many pieces of evidence that support the validity of the theory of evolution. Like any theory, it is open to debate, but Darwin's theory is reaching a point where it is as credible as any other.

Similarities- There are many things that are common to all forms of live on earth. The use of DNA based on the same sequence of amino acids is a sure indicator that all life began from one point. The use of ATP as the energy carrier in cells also shows an interconnection. The general theory is charted above. A certain kind of bacteria, referred to as archea-bacteria were the first to evolve. This was when conditions were very toxic to current forms of life. Once things began to settle, normal bacteria evolved and began to exhale oxygen. Evnetually, carnivorous bacteria evolved into eukaryotes, from where animals evolved.

The Genetic Evidence- With the new thechnology that is available, it has been shown that all animals have similar DNA, just in the same way that all plants have similar DNA.
Fossil Evidence- Scanty at first, but now very well developed, the fossil record shows the past generations of creatures that were our ancient ancestors. One can see how living things evolved and became new species as their body structures changed.
