OJ Simpson: Should the Juice be Loose?

Hello there, this is Tonya Browning's English class at the University of Texas at Austin!

As a group we have been asked to form a home page about the OJ Simpson trial. Let us introduce ourselves...We are Liz, Kris, Kevin,Jesus,Rachael, and Jana. We hope you like our project.

The basic premise behind our argument is that we believe that OJ Simpson is guilty. Due to his guilt we also feel that he needs to be convicted. Although there is evidence that may discredit the prosecution somewhat, the cards are stacked against him. Evidence against Simpson includes the testimonies of both Allan Park and Brian ("Kato") Kaelin, DNA testing results, blood traces, the bloody glove and discrepancies in Simpson's own story. Because of the incriminating evidence, OJ Simpson should be found guilty and convicted of the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman.

Supporters of Simpson say that someone else committed the crime. Evidence to support this is circumstancial evidence such as a frozen ice cream. In addition, the defense has also tried to prove that evidence was found at the crime scene is not valid because the investigator was a self proclaimed racist officer.

Holes in the Prosecution's Case:

1. The media has overblown the issue.

2. The detectives have been accused of lying

3. The prosecuters have been deceptive in their sharing of evidence with the defense

4. Professional analysts have performed careless work on DNA,blood, fingerprint, and hair samples.

In short as the case of OJ Simpson versus the people reaches its fourth month, the impact it has had on our entire country continues to expand. Though the media frenzy has slowly subsided, the result of its immediate scrutiny has put a damper on America's judicial system. The case against OJ Simpson is one that lacks any conformity with a normal court hearing. Created by the journalistic community, this abnormality has made it virtually impossible for OJ Simpson to stand a fair trial. The jury itself had to be selected through surveys of great length to ensure some fairness. However, this constant coverage has allowed people to visualize other aspects of the hearings that further back the argument that the charges against OJ Simpson should be dropped.

We believe that justice needs to be served and if OJ Simpson is not the murderer then who is? Regardless of the outcome Nicole Simpson and Ronald Goldman will not have another chance at life and their deaths need to be avenged with the conviction of the murderer
