My former book (s) of the week choice:
- Cognition in the Wild by Edwin Hutchins
This is just out from MIT Press and it's a thorough analysis of distributive
cognition in terms of navigation. Recommend it to all your sailing buddies and
read it for yourself if you want to learn how groups interact in problem solving
situations.
- The Diamond Age by Neal Stephenson, cyberpunk master extraordinare.
It's an intense
read with a great grasp of hypertext and narrative storytelling. It actually
takes place in China and it filters it all through a Victorian framework. I haven't decided if
I like the ending though.
