william gibson and cyberpunk

William Gibson is considered the father of the Cyberpunk paradigm. His revolutionary novel, Neuromancer has won global recognition as one of the most influential novels of the past 50 years. Gibson is the author of the entire Sprawl series of books, including Neuromancer, Count Zero, and Mona Lisa Overdrive. Gibson has also written a collection of short stories entitled, Burning Chrome.

Gibson's view of the future is a dark and sinister one, where large multi-national corporations have more power than the traditional governments. In Gibson's books, technology and punk culture collide, placing the high-tech at the street level.

William Gibson currently lives in Vancouver, British Columbia with his family. His newest book is entitled Virtual Light.
