Misconceptions:

A major reason why marijuana is still kept illegal in the United States is due mainly to all of the misconceptions as to the harms of the drug. When the government began its crusade to stamp out the use of marijuana in the 1970's, now known as Reefer Madness II, many myths were created. The majority of these myths have since been disproven. The real harms of marijuana are minmimal compared to those of legal substances such as alcohol or tobacco. The truth about marijuana and its use is getting out though. The Family Council on Drug Awareness has even put out a flyer for parents, students and teachers to learn from.

Government:

As for the government in the United States, the validity of marijuana's worth is finally being realized. Steps have already been taken to make the use of marijuana legal for medicinal purposes. It is still not where a large portion of society would like it to be but it is on its way. If you would like even more facts about marijuana, its history, or its uses click on FAQ .
