1 9.3 8.27 Select an example of a quality design (this can be either virtual or tangible, like the example I brought into class). You may bring in either the actual example or a photograph (digital or physical).
Be prepared to explain your selection to the class.
Once everyone has presented, you will be asked to write a short summation of your primary design points and email it to me. I will incorporate all the images and post to the class website.

2 9.9 9.3 Select one of your favorite websites. Explain why it is one of your favorite sites in our web forum. Use the terminology from our readings (Tog's, Alexander's or Norman's). You must write at least two paragraphs and include a link to the site. You will also write one response to a fellow classmate. Look at the site they describe and explain why you agree or disagree with their explanation. Respond inside the forum. This is due by next Tuesday night.

3 9.24 9.10 Complete a 1500 word analysis of a software interface.
Pick one software UI application to examine. Write an analysis of the product using your readings to provide context and terminology. Filter your analysis through the readings (be thoughtful regarding your choice). Rather than just detailing what you did or didn't like, spend time describing four aspects of effective or ineffective design and offer solutions to fix or enhance it. Be sure to include specific data, including the version of the software, any history of its design and so forth. It must be publicly available software released within the last three years. Include at least three screenshots to bolster your claims. Your writing skills will also be assessed, so compose carefully.
Submit this to the teacher folder prior to class on 9/24. Please submit in either MS Word or HTML format.

4 10.22 10.8 You may revise your paper from assignment three if you so wish. Please email me when you drop it into your student folder (under assignments_drop) with the underscore revision (_revision) for me to review. If you do not choose to revise your paper, your original grade will be counted twice. Don't forget to return the original to me if you received a hand-edited copy.
