Marshalling Your Criteria

Answer the following questions about your evaluative claim

 1.      What is the larger term or concept (Y term) you plan to define?
2.      List at least four examples of subjects that clearly fall under this definition.
3.      What (~8) characteristics do these subjects have in common?
4.      From these common characteristics, decide upon 3-4 criteria that define your Y term.
5.      What is the X term that does or does not fit the criteria you have developed?
6.      State your claim as an evaluative enthymeme.  It should resemble the following formula:  “X is/is not a Y because A, B, and C”.
